Our Understanding of Sustainability

Our Contribution to a Green Future

Sustainability is a core part of our corporate philosophy. Our playground equipment is designed not only to be safe and durable but also to take responsibility for the environment and society. That’s why we develop products that endure for generations – in their function, quality, and benefit to the community.

Transparency through CO₂ Accounting

Measurably Sustainable – Our CO₂ Footprint

As one of the first companies in the playground industry, we have calculated our Corporate Carbon Footprint (CCF). This creates transparency about our emissions and allows us to take targeted measures to reduce them – for example, through more efficient processes, renewable energy, and sustainable supply chains.

Example Product CO₂ Footprint:

We are also transparent at the product level. Our popular “Bird’s Nest (4650)” generates only 127.5 kg CO₂e over its entire lifecycle. This is made possible through durable materials, low-emission manufacturing, and an exceptionally long service life.

Energy & Climate Protection

Energy from Our Own Power

Since 2010, we have relied on our own photovoltaic system and a combined heat and power plant. Together, they cover almost 28% of our electricity needs, generate heat, and reduce our emissions by more than 23,000 kg of CO₂ per year. This makes our production more independent, cost-secure, and climate-friendly.

Materials & Safety

Sustainable Materials for Safe Play

We want children to play carefree – today and in the future. That’s why we use materials that are durable, resource-efficient, and free from harmful substances:

  • Wood from FSC- and PEFC-certified forestry
  • Recycling ropes made from 100% post-consumer material
  • Complete avoidance of PAHs (Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons) since 2021

This results in playground equipment that protects both nature and health.

Commitment to the Amazon

Together for the Amazon

Since 2019, we have been supporting the Madre de Dios climate protection project in the Peruvian Amazon together with GLS – one of the world’s largest carbon sinks. The project protects endangered species, preserves the habitats of indigenous peoples, and prevents around 690,000 tons of CO₂ emissions annually.

Sustainability in Everyday Life

Living Sustainability – Day by Day

For us, sustainability is not only about big projects but also small, everyday steps. These include:

  • Promoting sustainable mobility (cycling, public transport)
  • Water dispensers instead of plastic bottles
  • Supporting reforestation projects
  • Energy efficiency through conscious usage and innovative solutions

Outlook

Sustainability as a Process

We understand sustainability as a continuous process. Therefore, we plan to regularly determine our Corporate Carbon Footprint (CCF) in order to transparently document our progress and identify new fields of action. In addition, we are working on a comprehensive climate strategy that formulates concrete targets for reducing our emissions. In connection with this, we are developing a transformation plan that outlines the path toward a more sustainable corporate orientation – with clear measures, timelines, and responsibilities. This ensures that our commitment to the environment and climate does not end with individual measures but is structurally integrated into our thinking and actions – today and in the future.
